CABINETS-heated(pics): Heat tape and styrofoam is used to keep the heat inside. This method works very well as a direct heat source. Space heaters have a tendancy to dry out the environment and do not provide adequate amounts of direct heat to the spider. If you keep your spiders inside a heated cabinet,then the heat and humidity is locked inside thus making the spiders warm a cozy. Keep the substrate moist at all times. Measure the temperature of the substrate to determine the actual body temperature of the spider. A common mistake is to assume that the spiders body is the same temperature as the air in the room.
