CRICKETS AS A FOOD SOURCE
CRICKETS AS A FOOD SOURCE- Crickets are the most common food item fed to tarantulas. Make sure your crickets are kept clean , well fed and hydrated before feeding them to your spider. An unhealthy starving, dehydrated cricket can do more harm than good. If your crickets are starving or dehydrated ,it can actually chew a hole in your tarantulas body as it seeks nutrition, thus killing your pet.Feed your spider as many crickets as it wants a couple times per week. Do not leave any crickets in the tarantularium with your spider uneaten. Simply put the cricket back into the cricket container for later use. Use oranges to hydrate your crickets .In turn your tarantula will become well hydrated as it eats the crickets. Feed your crickets vitaminized fish flakes and in turn your spider will receive the vitamins as it feeds on the crickets. Keep your crickets clean. Dirty crickets can bring mold ,fungus and mites into the tarantularium that might make your spider sick. A happy cricket makes a happy tarantula.
